Kristina C.

Kristina Colbert leads the clinical faculty for special education and math for Urban Teachers in Dallas-Fort Worth. She instructs new teachers through the Johns Hopkins School of Education and has developed course curriculum for graduate education classes. She previously served as a department chair, special education resource math teacher, and secondary math teacher for the Dallas Independent School District. In 2014, she was recognized as an outstanding special education teacher by the National Association of Special Education Teachers. She has also received a teaching award from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

She is currently a doctoral candidate in educational leadership at the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine. She holds a Master of Education in Teacher Leadership from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and a Bachelor of Arts from North Texas University in Denton, Texas. She is a passionate advocate for equality in the classroom. She helps novice teachers to create curricula that appeal to students with diverse learning styles.
